Having only recently been targeted by a severe cyber attack, Mumsnet has once again been hit in a fresh sequence of attacks. The current attack resulted in user passwords having to be reset, and for the site to be temporarily shut down.
The damages caused following repeated cyber attacks has prompted the requirement for hardened Host Intrusion Detection Solutions, in order to spot any breaches that may be occurring, even if it impossible to altogether stop them.
Justine Roberts, creator of the online network for parents, commented in an online post: “This attack was double the size of the previous one and was distributed across many servers but we have no reason to believe that any security breaches occurred, the intention was to take the site offline.”
Darren Anstee, chief security technologist at Arbor Networks commented, “The best-practice defense against DDoS is a layered solution compromising of both a cloud and ISP-based DDOS protection service.”
