Hackers have leaked the alleged script for next week’s Game of Thrones episode after a hacking group breached the servers of HBO.
The hacking group sent an email to several journalists, reportedly claiming “HBO is falling’ and admitted to stealing over 1.5 TB of data from the popular television network.
HBO confirmed the breach in a statement claiming, “HBO recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information.”
In addition to the Game of Thrones script, the upcoming episodes of Ballers and Room 104 have also been published. However, in the email sent to journalists, the hackers promised that more leaks would revealed.
It’s believed the cause of this breach is likely either an exploit to a well-known vulnerability or an employee with excessive privileges who fell victim to a phishing scam.
NNT suggests introducing System Hardening and Vulnerability Management to your IT environment. A hardened system is one that is fundamentally secure and rendered hack-proof. Hardening a device requires known security 'vulnerabilities' to be eliminated or mitigated. A 'vulnerability' is any weakness or flaw in software design, implementation, administration and configuration of a system, which provides a mechanism for an attacker to exploit. A secure, locked down configuration requires care to achieve a good balance between security and operational function.
